The Fitzpatrick Scale classifies skin into 6 types based on skin colour and how your skin responds to the sun.

Type 1
Very Fair
Light, pale white skin
Burns very easily, never tans: should not use sunbed
Type 2
Fair
Fair, white skin
Usually burns, tans with difficulty
Type 3
Medium
Medium white to olive
Sometimes burns, gradually tans
Type 4
Olive
Olive, moderate brown
Rarely burns, tans with ease
Type 5
Brown
Brown, dark brown
Very rarely burns, tans very easily
Type 6
Black
Very dark brown to black
Never burns, tans very easily
Our staff can recommend the appropriate length of tanning session based on your skin type.
Do NOT Use Sunbeds If:
- You are pregnant
- You have Type 1 skin (very fair, burns easily)
- You're taking medications that increase UV sensitivity
- You have heart/circulatory problems, epilepsy, or diabetes
- You've consumed alcohol in the last 2 hours
- You have excessive moles/freckles or history of skin cancer
- You've had surgery in the last 6 weeks
- You've had a tanning session in the last 24 hours
Always Wear Goggles
Protective goggles are provided and mandatory for all sessions.
Remove Cosmetics
Remove makeup, jewellery, and contact lenses before tanning.
Consent Form Required
You will need to sign a consent form before using our tanning beds.
